Dr. Barry JDr. Barry J. Barnett is professor and graduate coordinator in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University. He has conducted research and written extensively about agricultural public policy and insurance both in the United States and in developing country contexts. In particular, his work on index insurance is widely cited in the scholarly literature. He regularly conducts analysis for the Risk Management Agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and has testified before the Agriculture Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. In addition to numerous scholarly journal articles, he has contributed to several World Bank, OECD, and USAID publications. Dr. Barnett teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in microeconomic theory and a graduate course on research methods.

GuangwenDr. Guangwen He is professor and head of the Department of Finance, and director of Center for Rural Finance & Microfinance Research, China Agricultural University. His teaching & research focused on rural finance, cooperative finance, microfinance, financial demand & supply of farm households & MSEsúČinstitutional and business innovation of small & medium financial institutions. Yearly, he spends more than 2 months for field survey. He was visiting professor of Duisburg University in German and Visiting Researcher of Norinchukin Bank Research Institute, Tokyo/Japan. And he was also microfinance and rural finance consultancy for projects of World Bank, ADB, IFAD, KFW and etc. in China. hegwen@cau.edu.cn

Martin OdeningMartin Odening is head of the Department of Agricultural Economics at Humboldt University Berlin. He joined Humboldt University as a Professor of Farm Management in 1994. Prior to this appointment he worked as a Professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He received his Diploma in Agricultural Economics in 1983 and his doctorate degree in 1987 from the University of Goettingen (Germany). His research interests include risk management, agricultural finance and investment, and efficiency analyses. He has published numerous journal articles and conference contributions addressing these topics. Since 2009 Odening is a member of the collaborative research center on Economic Risk at Humboldt University. He is also coordinator of a research unit on structural change in agriculture funded by the German Research Foundation.

Professor Odening served as an advisor for the German Government, the FAO, and other institutions with a regional focus on East Europe. In addition to his research interests he is member and currently speaker of the review board of the German Research Foundation.
